Tailoring Change: Vote for Jake at the National Diversity Awards 2025

We’re thrilled to announce that King & Allen co-founder and CEO, Jake Allen, has been nominated for Entrepreneur of Excellence at the National Diversity Awards 2025.
What are the NDAs?
The National Diversity Awards (NDA) celebrates the incredible achievements of individuals, community organisations, role models, entrepreneurs, and celebrities who strive to promote diversity and inclusion in all its forms. Over the past thirteen years, the NDA has grown into a beacon of recognition, celebrating the stories and accomplishments of those who inspire change and champion equality.
Why This Nomination Matters
Jake’s nomination is a powerful recognition - not just of one person - but of everything King & Allen has stood for over the past 21 years. From the very beginning, our mission has been to break the traditional mould of tailoring, championing visibility, individuality, and inclusion in an industry long defined by conformity.
This journey has helped us grow an incredible community of consultants, tailors and clients who believe in our shared vision. We’ve created safe spaces, challenged outdated processes, pioneered inclusive sizing, and proudly become the UK’s number one tailor for lesbian weddings - a testament to our ongoing push for equity in the world of bespoke suits.
Inclusivity: A Constant Thread

Since 2003, we’ve been proving that tailoring can - and should - empower everyone. Bespoke suits aren’t just about fit; they’re about identity. Our team has created thousands of garments that celebrate individuality, working with a beautifully diverse community of clients and collaborators.
We’ve been privileged to suit up and support powerful voices like Lucy Spraggan, Max Siegel, and Danielle St. James - people who, like us, believe that tailoring should uplift, not exclude.
As Jake puts it...
“I'm most proud of creating an environment where clients who felt uncomfortable in traditional spaces, now feel seen and respected. Our work supporting transgender and non-binary clients has been particularly meaningful, teaching us how to create better tailoring solutions that reflect their true selves.”
The Stories That Matter Most
Whilst suits are what we make, empowerment is why we do it. Nothing captures this better than the voices of our clients…
Kate’s Story - Surbiton branch
“I’m so happy I went with King & Allen for my bespoke suit. Cat made the whole process easy going, which is exactly what you need when you’re feeling out of your comfort zone.
She helped me with the concerns I had about my eczema getting aggravated in a suit. The last thing I wanted was a flare up on my wedding day. Going with bamboo was the right decision, it really breathes, it’s soft and such a beautiful material.
Seeing the finished suit, I was blown away. You have an idea of what it will look like during the fittings, but nothing prepares you for the finished look. I can’t begin to thank King & Allen enough for the wonderful suit they made, and I can’t wait to wear it on my wedding day next month.”
Ben’s Story - Knutsford branch

“As somebody who struggles to find a suit that fits my proportions well, I finally decided to buy a bespoke suit when I failed to find something suitable for my wedding. At no point did the experience feel pushy or judgmental. The store itself was beautiful, and Lauryn came across as humble, knowledgeable and experienced, with a clear and aligned vision. She was very conscientious of what I had in my head and what I was trying to articulate into an item of clothing, but was able to temper my inexperience with her years of professional experience in order to curate the perfect suit.”
Char Bailey’s Story - Birmingham branch

“Working with King & Allen has been a dream! Jiten (the consultant) really just gets it. I wanted to find the balance between my masc and femme energy. I wanted it to be playful but also sharp enough for when I’m in corporate settings. We chatted about intersectionality, the freedom to express ourselves as ourselves and how entering traditionally male-dominated settings (like a tailoring shop) can be intimidating. I had the lining in rainbow skulls, with “kill your ego” in orange. I have had so many ego deaths trying to discover who I am. No longer having to perform or shrink to fit anyone else’s expectations of me or blackness or queerness or womanhood. Thank you so much. I’ve never worn anything that felt more.”
Shakeel - Liverpool St Showroom
“I've been back to King & Allen now 4 times with fabric that my parents had bought back in the late 70's and early 80's as material for gifting and kept in trunks. They have never let me down, and their attention to detail from those who measure you up and discuss design style is impeccable. Joe has been superb. The last one even got a decadent '70s flare thing going on with the trousers. No doubt I'll be heading back there again. Well done King & Allen, superb Job!”
