Together, We’re Changing Tailoring: National Diversity Awards 2026
Last year, King & Allen was nominated for the National Diversity Awards, recognition that meant a great deal to us as a business committed to making tailoring more inclusive, welcoming, and accessible for everybody. This year, we’re incredibly grateful to have been nominated once again.
The National Diversity Awards celebrate individuals, organisations, and community initiatives working to promote equality, inclusion, and positive change across the UK. Over the past thirteen years, the awards have become an important platform for recognising people and businesses helping make a difference within their industries and communities.
While recognition is never the reason we do what we do, moments like this give us the opportunity to reflect on something that has always mattered deeply to us: creating a tailoring experience where people feel comfortable being themselves.
Why Inclusive Tailoring matters
For many LGBTQ+ people, traditional tailoring spaces haven’t always felt welcoming. They can sometimes feel intimidating, heavily gendered, or built around expectations that don’t reflect everybody’s identity, style, or experience.
Over the years, we’ve worked with clients who told us they had delayed getting a suit because they worried they wouldn’t feel understood or comfortable during the process. Helping to change that experience has become one of the most meaningful parts of what we do.
At King & Allen, we believe tailoring should feel welcoming, collaborative, and personal. Whether someone is choosing a wedding suit, exploring a new sense of style, or commissioning something for an important life moment, our goal is always the same: helping people feel confident and comfortable as themselves.
The Moments that Stay with us
Over the past year alone, we’ve continued to hear from LGBTQ+ clients who told us how important it was to find a tailoring experience where they felt comfortable, understood, and able to fully express themselves.
These are just a few of the messages that have stayed with us:
“As long as I can remember, I have found ‘smart’ clothes difficult. First as a masculine presenting woman, and now as a Transgender man, I have never had a body that fitted into ‘traditional’ clothing… From the very beginning King & Allen made me comfortable enough to be able to advocate for what I really wanted… On the day? I felt incredible… Thank you King & Allen for making me feel so incredibly comfortable and so incredibly myself on my wedding day. Trans people deserve to feel this good.”
Max Siegel
"I was immediately struck by King & Allen's LGBTQIA+ friendly approach… Cat Rowe could not have been nicer, supportive, and knowledgeable. The dinner jackets Cat and the team produced were simply perfect."
Tom Waterlow
"King & Allen are a strong #LGBTQ+ supporting business ensuring that regardless of your gender, sexuality, or size you can get the fit that is right for you! We were given lots of time to talk through what we both wanted from our suits and then to make decisions on style and fit. We had about 3 visits in total to ensure that we got the fittings absolutely perfect! Definitely will be going back here!"
Roscoe Hastings
Hearing feedback like this consistently is incredibly meaningful to us. It reflects the kind of environment we’ve always wanted to create: one where exceptional tailoring and inclusive service go hand in hand, and where people feel confident, comfortable, and fully themselves.
Thank you for being part of what we’re building.
