And the Winner is... Amie

Our annual Photo Competition is always a lovely reminder of the incredible journeys we go on with our clients. This year saw more fantastic entries, which made our job incredibly difficult! After selecting 6 finalists, we passed the final vote over to the public.

We are delighted to confirm that Amie Leicester is this year's winner, and will receive a new bespoke suit worth £1,300.

We interviewed Amie on her journey and experience with King & Allen...

How did you and your partner meet?

I wish I could tell you something super romantic or exciting, but it’s how every modern day love story starts…. Tinder!

Who proposed and how did it happen?

It was February 2021, in the middle of lockdown, where the furthest we could venture to was the back garden - so it happened at home. But it was perfect and we wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was our anniversary and my partner Viki had made a scrap book of all our memories over the years. The last page read “will you marry me”! Funny thing was, I’d also bought a ring, so thankfully she beat me to it!

What made you decide on a suit and why was it important to you?

I’m not opposed to wearing a dress, but a wedding dress just isn’t for me and I wouldn't have felt comfortable in it. I felt torn on what to wear and it took me a long time to create the perfect suit in my head. King & Allen then worked with me to create exactly what I’d envisioned.

What made you choose King & Allen?

I chose King & Allen as I knew the suit that I wanted would need to be bespoke - I was never going to be able to find what I had in my head from a shop. I had followed King & Allen on social media for a long time and admired their relationship and support for the LGBTQ+ community. I liked the fact they catered for women as I found most tailors only made men’s suits.

How was your experience with King & Allen?

It was a stunning experience! From start to finish it was easy and stress free. Before coming to King & Allen, I had a vision in my head of the suit I wanted but I felt overwhelmed. Karl at King & Allen was so helpful in guiding me on the style that best suited me. I felt reassured throughout the whole process and it certainly paid off. Karl was particularly amazing throughout!

How did you feel in your suit on your wedding day?

It sounds cheesy, but I felt special. Everyone complimented it, I felt I stood out, and my suit was completely different to anyone else’s.

Will you be wearing the suit again?

Yes! I love wearing the suit pieces individually - the jacket is lovely to wear with jeans and I wear the trousers with different tops. I am eagerly awaiting the next big event just as an excuse to wear it all together again.

How did it feel to win the 2023 Photo Competition and are you excited about your new suit?

There were so many amazing entries and the other 5 finalists' photos were incredible, so I was really chuffed to win. I can’t wait to get started on another suit, I’ve already got the ideas in mind!
