A review of the suits on SUITS

This week we have a guest blogger – Tulani Tubi – who is a K&A consultant based at our Liverpool Street showroom. Watching the TV show Suits these past few months has become an obsession of mine. Not only is the show extremely funny and intriguing, but also it’s the styling of the characters that keeps me engrossed. It is true to say that the hierarchy of the characters on the show is actually displayed through the suits they wear: from a well tailored classic style (displaying power) to a modern more tailored style (showing the character’s youthfulness).

Gary Barlow and his X Factor Suits

Usually we wouldn’t lower the tone of From the Cutting Room Table by discussing the X Factor. However, it has been brought to my attention by a few of my (mainly female) friends how good some of the suits look this series… so I did some investigation… For the most part we can dismiss the contestants’ sartorial attempts completely. Teeny boppers in Topman is not King & Allen’s style at all. Instead I would like to focus on the ‘adults’ of the show – most specifically Gary Barlow and Dermot O’Leary, who every week have been consistently producing some great looks that King & Allen customers would do well to emulate.

The King & Allen Guide to: Designer Suits

A ‘designer suit’ by definition is one that has been created by a designer, but the phrase has become synonymous with fitted, stylish, modern suits. At King & Allen we define a suit as a ‘designer suit’ when all the contributing factors that go into it have combined successfully: the fit is right; the cut is right; the cloth is right; the style is right. The suit has elevated beyond the realms of a practical work tool or a smart outfit for events. The suit has distinguished itself (and therefore its wearer) to a higher, more stylish level.
