Tweed Suits

Tweed has seen a huge increase in popularity of late, not only for traditional jacketing but also as an eclectic and elegant suit option for a wedding.

Famous for its vivid colours, distinctive patterns and associations with British heritage, the cloth has style and class in abundance. Tweed is also extremely robust: it maintains its shape well, hangs beautifully and actually improves with age. Well maintained, mens tweed suits should last a lifetime – offering outstanding value for money.

Tweed originated in the 18th century, created by Scottish weavers who yearned for a denser and heavier cloth in which to brave the northern wilds. In order to reflect tweed’s environment, an earthy palette was created – with colours to match those found on the blasted heaths of the highlands. Modern tweeds have remained as vibrant and charismatic, but are now available in lighter weights (11-14oz) which can be worn all year round.

Whether you’re looking for a modern suit for a wedding or a traditional mens tweed jacket for weekend attire, our expert consultants will guide you through the process. We have an extensive range of tweeds on offer, from traditional Harris to modern worsted checks – all beautifully woven in some of the world’s finest mills.

Our large range of luxury tweeds can also be used in ladies suits, so that you can look stylish, whatever the weather. Ladies tweed jackets can also be worn as separates to add a beautifully distinctive twist to casual attire.

Our favoured cloth merchant, Holland & Sherry, is actually located on the banks of the River Tweed – in Peebles, Scotland. Our strong relationship with them, and the large volume of orders we place, ensure we enjoy the best prices… which we pass on to our customers.
