The Best Trends from London Fashion Week Men’s SS18

London Fashion Week Men’s is here again and celebrating its fifth anniversary!

This four-day event showcased the Spring/Summer 2018 collections of menswear designers from all over the world across a variety of locations in the capital.

Last season, we shared our favourite wearable trends from LFWM AW17 and it proved to be so popular that we are doing it again this season.

Many men take no notice of the latest catwalk shows because they don’t feel relevant to their day-to-day wardrobe. However, you don’t have to follow the latest trends religiously to give your summer wardrobe an update. Instead, take the elements of these trends that you like and translate them into something wearable.

In the following article, we are sharing our favourite trends from this season’s shows. Which one will your next suit be inspired by?

The Best of London Fashion Week Men’s: Spring/Summer 2018

Micro Texture - LFWM SS18 Trends

Tonal Micro-Textures

Whatever suit cut you like to wear, choosing a cloth with a subtle micro-texture is a fantastic way of updating next year’s summer suit. The key to keeping this look sharp is by ensuring that the cloth is tonal and in a neutral colour.

Millennial Pink - LFWM SS18 Trends

Millennial Pink

This shade of pink (“Millennial Pink” as they are calling it…) is everywhere right now and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Whilst a full pink suit is not for everyone, adding a touch of this pink to your wardrobe is a fantastic way of bringing it up-to-date. Why not a blazer or a pocket square?

Preppy Tailoring - LFWM SS18 Trends
From left to right, the SS18 collections from: Chalayan and Florin Dobre.

Preppy Tailoring

That super preppy look has been out of vogue for a couple of seasons now, but it looks like it’s coming back. The Chalayan suit offers more of a minimal take on this trend, whilst Florin Dobre’s blazer is classic with a twist. Take a look at that cutaway front!

Loose Tailoring - LFWM SS18 Trends

Relaxed Tailoring

Loose tailoring is a trend for AW17 and it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of it in SS18. Whilst we’re not suggesting that you start wearing over-sized suits, we think it’s time to stop wearing “skinny” suits. Start off by wearing your suits with more over-body allowance and then graduate to a larger bottom width on your trousers.

Light Tailoring - LFWM SS18 Trends

Light Suiting

This is a very European look, full of “Sprezzatura” – an Italian word that means studied nonchalance or effortless ease. Light tailoring is a fantastic trend for summer, as not only does it look superb, but it keeps you cool in the heat. You can either wear a full suit in one shade or wear separates, as demonstrated by Richard James. A light pair of tailored will be a prudent purchase for next summer.
