Formal Suits / Dinner Suits

In 1865, the Prince of Wales (the future King Edward VII) commissioned from his tailor a shortened morning suit jacket for evening wear. From those regal beginnings, the Dinner Suit (also known as Black Tie or Tuxedo) has never lost its grandeur.

With their simple design and clean, smooth silhouette, formal suits have always been and will always be the most elegant item in any gentleman’s wardrobe.

Whether you’re looking for something traditional such as a Morning Suit, or a classic Dinner Suit with a modern twist – we have expertise in all aspects of mens formal wear. Your appointed consultant will expertly guide you through the many fabric, style and feature options available, providing considered and transparent pricing advice on the cloth and construction options, so that your formal wear choices perfectly match your needs.

In order to ensure a perfect fit, we take up to 40 measurements and cut an individual pattern exclusively for you, which is then retained for future orders. The master cutter then oversees the construction of the suit, which is conducted by a team of specialist craftsmen and women. Between the coat-maker (who only works on jackets) and the maker of the silk facings, jets and buttons that adorn our mens dinner suits, over 45 hours of detailed work is required. The result is a dinner suit which will look and feel exquisite, but is carefully constructed so that, with the correct care, your garments should last your lifetime and beyond – providing you with outstanding value for money.

With over 13 years of making bespoke mens formal suits, King & Allen has developed a sterling reputation; not just for their quality and craftsmanship but also their relaxed, approachable service.
